Principles of Success in Personal Development

You have heard someone said “ if it’s going to be, it’s up to me.” Napoleon Hill said,” whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, , it can achieve.” Jesus said” if you have faith and do not doubt… you can say to this mountain,’ go throw yourself into the sea’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer .Mark 21; 21-22.
So, with the above, we know that Thought, Belief and
Faith are important factors to achieve what you want in life, and let me add: Action, Determination, Commitment and Hard Work will insure your success.
So in personal development, you have the following criteria: your thought, your dream, you put specific plans in your dream and it becomes a goal, you put a deadline on your goal and it becomes your blueprint for success, you add faith, belief, determination, commitment, action and hard work, and it becomes a reality.
This is the process that I followed in my personal development through all the years.
Let me tell you a story of my Seven Series of Goals in life using the above criteria and following the process I indicated above.
I started to dream as a doctor when I was 8 years old. My father was writhing with severe excruciating pain at his lumbar region due to kidney stones. Our Family physician injected him with a medication that relieved the pain like magic, after a few minutes, and I said “Wow, how can I become a doctor like you?” And he said, study hard, have good grades, and then go to a good medical school.
So my Goal No. 1 was to become a doctor. I accomplished that in 1959, from the College of Medicine, University of the Philippines. My goal No. 2 was to become a surgeon, I realized that in 1964.
My Goal No. 3 was to become a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon in the United States, I accomplished that in 1973.
My Goal No. 4 was to educate my four children in good U.S. Universities so that they can be independent and raise their own family. I accomplished that. I have 5 grand children and 2 great grand children.
My Goal No. 5 was to to take care of my health seriously and be physically fit, so I became a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do (Korean Karate), and Blue Belt in Stick Fighting, (Filipino Martial Arts) in 1980.
My Goal No. 6. I wanted to give back to this Great Country, the United States, the blessings that it has given me, so I enrolled in the U.S. Army Reserve, and became a Major, in the 1980’s and was honorably discharged in 1985.
I retired my orthopedic practice of 33 years in 2005
and accepted an office job in Occupational Medicine, and completely retired from medical practice in July 2013 to take care of my bed-ridden dear wife, due to Stage 4 Cancer, who finally passed away in December of 2013.
The death of my wife woke me up and made me realize the true reality of mortality. So that strengthened my resolve to continue to make a difference in the lives of people before my time comes.
Then I made my Goal No.7—To continue My Mission to Serve People in need, to give back to my Old Country ,the Philippines,something significant, to help equip the charity hospital in the Philippines, Philippine General Hospital, which serves our poor population who cannot afford private medical care. I want to do this because my father wanted me to become a doctor primarily to serve our poor people in the Philippines, but I did not follow what he asked me to do after my graduation from medical school and surgical training in the Philippines because I wanted a better life for my children here in the United States, so I immigrated here in 1965. So it’s time for me to pay back.
How ? I want to succeed in network marketing online businesses, so that I can fund my mission, which also includes helping fund the Professorial Chairs of the College of Medicine, University of the Philippines and continue funding seminaries for education of priests and missionaries to the un-churched people of the world to spread the Gospel.
So with this last goal No.7. I want to make as much money as I can for the next 5 years, so that I will have a lot of fun giving it all away to the people in need for the rest of my lifetime. I am 82 years young, still healthy, full of energy and determination, and I believe I can do it.
So in summary, let me venture to say that the most important thing I learned in success development is not much on what you achieved, but on what you have become during the process.
